"There's no party, like an S Club party!"

Hello everyone!

DAY 1

Last Monday was an early start for us, as we were heading up to Carlingford Adventure Center in Co. Louth! I had to be up at 5 on Monday, to be at Esso for 7, as that was when the bus was leaving. I think it is safe to say that everyone was exhausted!

We arrived at the center at about 9:30 and we were quickly assigned rooms and given a brief ‘verbal tour’ of the center and our meeting places. Luckily, I was in a room with my friends.

When everyone had put their bags into their rooms, we were brought down to the beach where we were given wet-suits, life-jackets and helmets! We were divided into Group A and Group B. I was in Group B, so we started off our trip with kayaking. We kayaked until about 12 and then we got changed back into our clothes and had lunch.

After lunch, we played laser tag. We were handed laser guns and a camunzie (camouflage onesie) and we headed up the very, very steep hill to the laser forest! Laser tag, in my opinion, was the best part of the trip. Our leader, Martin, was so funny! Before each game, he would gather all of us in a circle and give us an ‘inspirational quote’. The first few were serious, such as ‘You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take’, but then they ended on a light note with ‘There’s no party, like an S Club party’!

After laser tag we had dinner and then we had 2 hours of free time, during which we went to the sweet shop and relaxed in our room. Then at about 7, we went to our night-time activity, which was called night-line. Basically, we had to walk back up the hill and wander through a forest blindfolded! It was so much fun!

After night-line, some of the girls ordered a Chinese and we went back to our room and had a huge feast of chocolate, sweets and cake (for our friend Lauren’s Birthday)!!!

DAY 2
At 7:30 on Tuesday morning, we got a wake-up call from reception. They played music to get us in the mood for another day of activities.
Firstly, we had breakfast. Then we went down to the beach again and went canoeing. I much preferred canoeing to kayaking. When we were out on the canoes, we were allowed to go on the water trampoline. We jumped into the water from the trampoline and it was so cold but it was so much fun!

After canoeing, we went back to the showers and got changed and then we had lunch.
After lunch, we walked up the hill, again, and went to the activity center where we were given loads of tasks to complete in order to win points. My team won overall! After this activity, we returned to the center to collect our stuff and then we came home.
Carlingford was an amazing trip! I had a great time with my friends and I would love the opportunity to go again someday!

My Digital Footprint

Our TY blog challenge involves blogging about our 'digital footprints'. At first, I had absolutely no idea what a digital footprint was, but then I found out that it is all of one's links with the digital world since before they were even born!
Highlighting my own digital footprint seemed to be difficult at first as I had no idea how I could have a link with the digital world before I was even born. I now realize that my mothers first ultrasound was the beginning of my digital footprint! My digital footprint developed even further as my parents informed family and friends of my arrival through texts, email etc.
Now that I have joined social media sites, I am contributing to my own digital footprint. These social media sites include:
  1. Facebook-  sharing pictures with my friends, liking pictures and statuses etc.
  2. Instagram- sharing pictures, following people etc.
  3. Pinterest- 'pinning' or saving recipes and ideas from other people on my page.
  4. Google- searching things for school etc.
  5. Blogger- making blog posts to share with others.
  6. YouTube- watching videos and listening to music.
  7. Skype- talking to family and friends who are far away.
  8. Snapchat- sending pictures and having conversations with friends.
These are only some ways in which I have contributed to my growing digital footprint.
As I get older, my digital footprint will grown even further as I begin working and joining new social media sites!
I'm sure I have left out plenty of aspects of my digital footprint, but if I were to think of everything that contributes to it, I would probably be here for years!

Etiquette, first aid and apple crumble!

Hi everyone!
So last Wednesday we had a full day of workshops in school. They were on etiquette, first aid and positive parties! They were really good and I really enjoyed them.

The etiquette workshop was mainly on deportment, which is how you walk and how you hold yourself. We walked up and down the second year mall and they taught us how to carry ourselves and how to walk with poise! Then we had to do the same thing in high heels!

The next workshop was positive parties which, basically, was about having a positive outlook on life. We had a great time dancing and listening to music, while learning about positivity in a party-like environment! Then, to top it all off, we all got sweets!

Our last workshop was first aid. Our instructor Garry was very friendly and funny.
We learned basic first aid skills such as how to put an arm in a sling and how to place someone in the recovery position. We also learned what to do if someone has a seizure and how to perform CPR.

Overall, I really enjoyed the day of workshops and I'm really looking forward to the next workshop day coming up!

When I came home that afternoon, I decided to make an apple crumble. I went outside and picked some apples from our tree and made the crumble mixture. When it came out of the oven
I dished it up and sat down for a very relaxing evening!

Apple crumble recipe:
Ingredients
3-4 apples
100g golden caster sugar
150g plain flour
75g butter (plus extra for greasing)
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180C and grease an ovenproof baking dish with butter.
  2. Place the butter and flour in a bowl and rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  3. Stir half of the sugar into the butter and flour mixture.
  4. Peel, core and slice the apples and place them in the greased dish.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining sugar and cinnamon (if using) over the apples and then evenly spread the crumble mixture over the apples.
  6. Place the crumble in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown on top.
*TIP* best served warm, straight from the oven, with cold custard or whipped cream.
